If you can't work, sometimes you can get money from the government. This is called Unemployment Insurance. It is not really insurance because you do NOT have to buy anything. You only have to not be working. Here is some information for immigrants (Immigrants are people from other countries):

For example, "First, they must be unemployed “through no fault of their own.” Second, they must have enough wages earned or hours worked in their “base period” to establish a claim. Third, they must be “able and available” to work."
